CCC Quarryman’s Trail Changes

sharedpath_250x412

Quarryman’s Trail to be on South of Sparks

Closes 12 September. https://www.ccc.govt.nz/the-council/consultations-and-submissions/haveyoursay/show/179

Links from above page called plans, but each is a continuation of the project. There are not several plans on offer.

Note that these are sheets 1-4 and presented out of order on the site. Sheet numbers on middle bottom of each sheet. For clarity Page numbers are used here.

Quarryman’s Trail Rejigged

The path plans have changed and it is now to be moved from N/W to the S/E side of Sparks Road. The speed is to be lowered to 60Km/h.

On offer is a 3m wide bidirectional path shared with pedestrians. There is expansion room available on both sides of the proposed plan including a 3.8m wide shoulder. The inadequate width is likely due to this being the width on the already constructed sections which also offered room for expansion. Cost is an issue. Spokes ask Council to formally dedicate the extra meter of width to the route to be used for expansion as demand requires.

Spokes supports the lowered speed limit.

Spokes appreciates the advanced stop lines and hook turn boxes at the Hendersons/Sparks intersection.

From the link

Page 1:

From Milns Drain Reserve west of Hendersons the route crosses Sparks Road at a new dedicated signal. The route through Milns should be 4m, not 3.

Page 2:

The path continues along the south/east side of Sparks Road. There is no mention of how the path will be blocked by cars using the currently infrequent driveways.

Page 4:

3m wide shared path with 3.8m wide shoulder. The sections east of Hendersons include the addition of a 2.8m footpath on the north side.  No footpath is shown west of Hendersons. A min 4m wide shared path is required and there is more than ample room for a 4m wide path. Plan shows even more room on non-road side of path.
