CCC – Safer speeds – Banks Peninsula

This is the CCC side of two parallel consultations on Banks Peninsula speed limits, to both of which Spokes submitted on 3/12/2021.
For the Spokes’ NZTA submission see https://www.spokes.org.nz/2021/12/nzta-sh73-sh75-christchurch-to-akaroa-and-sh74-lyttelton-speed-review/

Which road/s are you commenting on: Summit Road and all roads that connect to it.
Comments – please be as specific as possible to help us understand your views.: The proposals to lower the speed limit on SH 75 and the adjoining roads on Banks Peninsula is sound and probably overdue. Spokes would like the lower speeds extended to Summit Road and all roads that connect to it on the grounds that; It is extremely dangerous to do speeds much greater than 60kph for most of those roads Sports cyclists use these roads a lot and one was killed during Le Race a few years ago. Slower traffic speeds may have meant this lady was still with us. Young people that live and holiday in these well-used bays deserve better than having motor vehicles trying to do excessive speeds in these environments.
