Cycle Maps

New cycle facilities are being added in Canterbury all the time.

Grab yourself a copy of the Christchurch City Council cycle map and guide available at libraries, service centres and bike shops. You can also download a PDF copy.

Waimakariri District has plenty of opportunities for cyclists including the Ashley/Rakahuri and Passchendaele Memorial Path from Kaiapoi to Rangiora.

The great thing about biking in Christchurch is that it rarely rains, a large portion of people live with 10km of their workplaces and it’s flat. But if you do get caught in the rain from time to time pop your bike on the bus and keep dry. 

Where to Ride

Cycling in Christchurch has a suburban guide to cycling for beginners right through to "great destinations'. Just click the letter of your chosen suburb and jump straight to it.

The Chch City Council has an interactive map of handy rides around the city, for family rides, mountain biking, and road riding. These include Hagley Park, Bottle Lake Forest, and the Christchurch Adventure Park.

If you are more of a recreational rider check, the current status of various recreational tracks around the city via the regularly updated Council website.
